About Me:
My name is Valerie Castanon. Over my years of studying and practicing different forms of art, my knowledge, skills and abilities have trained me to create many methods of art such as drawing, painting, ceramics, bookmaking and printmaking. As I end my career at the CSULB and receive a BA in Studio Arts with a minor in printmaking, I will continue to explore and expand my knowledge and hone my skills.

Statement:
My art practice has evolved over the years as I learn more about the many subjects in the art world. Ever since I was young, I was always interested in creating and making things with my hands. Now as a growing artist, my work has been influenced by interests and experiences that have affected me as a person. As I grow, I begin to see a pattern of my works involving subjects that speak to me as I learn that my best work is work that I connect with.

My work as shown in my portfolio has time and time again been a part of me. Art has always been an outlet where creativity takes over which allows me to share experiences, interests, and the people in my life that have inspired and influenced me. As I grow artistically, I hope to teach in the arts to inspire others to create, connect and make a world of their own.
